Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates is asking all Department of Defense military and civilian employees to submit their ideas to save money, avoid cost, reduce cycle time and increase the agility of the department.

“Within the department, we are launching an online contest for the purpose of soliciting and rewarding creative ideas to save money and use resources more effectively,” said Gates.

This contest, dubbed the INVEST Award, or Innovation for New Value, Efficiency and Savings Tomorrow Award, will reward with cash prizes to those who submit the best ideas for improving efficiency.

Ideas will be accepted via www.defense.gov/INVESTuntil Sept. 24. 25 final winners will be announced in October. Please refer to the frequently asked questions link on the contest Web site, or e-mail to INVEST@osd.mil.
