PURPOSE: To assist officials and employees of the U.S. Marine Corps in the management, supervision, and administration of Marine Corps personnel (officer and enlisted), and the operations of related personnel affairs and functions.
ROUTINE USES: In addition to those disclosures generally permitted under 5 U.S.C. 552a(b) of the Privacy Act, these records or information contained therein may specifically be disclosed outside the DoD as a routine use pursuant to 5 U.S.C. 552a(b)(3) as follows: To officials and employees of the Sergeants at Arms of the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate in the performance of official duties related to the verification of Marine Corps service. Access will be limited to those portions of the member's record required to verify service time, active, and reserve. To officials and employees of the Department of Veterans Affairs, Department of Health and Human Services, and Selective Service Administration in the performance of their official duties related to eligibility, notification, and assistance in obtaining benefits by members and former members of the Marine Corps.
DISCLOSURE: Voluntary. However, failure to provide the requested information may result in a delay in the provision of funeral honors for the deceased service member
