The Office of Legislative Affairs synchronizes all actions, engagements, and strategic messaging to Congress on behalf of the Commandant of the Marine Corps (CMC) in order to create a shared understanding of the Service’s vision and strategy, as well as to gain congressional support for Marine Corps’ legislative priorities. This includes maintaining congressional understanding of the Service’s unique role within the Joint Force, building awareness and support for the CMC’s legislative priorities and requirements, informing congressional decision makers of key issues and priorities, building and maintaining relationships with members of Congress and personal/professional staff members, coordinating and deconflicting congressional engagements, providing constituents service support, and providing travel support to Congress.
