Mission
ARSF serves as the principal advisor for the Commandant of the Marine Corps, HQMC staff agencies, and the Fleet Marine Force on all Privacy Act (PA) and Privacy Program matters by issuing policy/guidance, providing administrative support and advice, conducting training, and monitoring overall USMC Privacy Program effectiveness. ARSF is the USMC Public Liaison for Privacy and represents USMC on all DON and DoD boards and panels. It is ARSF's responsibility to ensure the implementation of the DON Privacy Program requirements within USMC, to ensure that all USMC military members, civilian and contractor employees are made fully aware of their rights and responsibilities under the provisions of the PA, and to ensure that USMC's need to maintain information is balanced against the obligation to protect individuals against unwarranted invasions of their privacy stemming from the collection, maintenance, use, and disclosure of personally identifiable information (PII). ARSF maintains the USMC inventory of PA System of Records Notices and directs their Federal Register publication. In addition, ARSF reviews all USMC directives, forms, and Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) for PA compliance. Implementation of program requirements is the responsibility of the USMC Privacy Program Coordinator, under the direct supervision of the USMC Privacy Program Manager.
