Empire State Building lights up for Fleet Week

21 May 2004 | Cpl. Beth Zimmerman Headquarters Marine Corps

Service members from each branch of service pulled the switch Thursday to light up the Empire State Building in red, white and blue lights in honor of New York City's Fleet Week 2004.

The switch is located in the downstairs lobby of the Empire State Building.  A model of the building sits next to the switch and lights up to represent the colors that will shine from the outside of the building at night.

The red, white and blue lights will shine each night of Fleet Week, which starts Wednesday and ends June 2.
