Super Cobra crashes in National Forest

A 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing AH-1W Super Cobra crashed last night at approximately 11:54 p.m. PST.

The helicopter, from Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 166, crashed north of Interstate 8 and Kitchen Creek Road in Cleveland National Forest. 

The crash resulted in the fatalities of the aircraft’s two pilots.

This incident is under investigation. Additional information will be provided as soon as it becomes available.
