Petty Officer 2nd Class Jeremy A. Cieplich fires a GAU-21/A .50 caliber machine gun mounted in an MH-60S Seahawk helicopter at simulated enemy personnel during live-fire, close-air support training Dec. 10 at Farallon de Medinilla Target Range, Northern Mariana Islands. The MH-60Ss are currently forward deployed to the island of Tinian, coordinating with Marine Corps units during Exercise Forager Fury II. FF II is an aviation training relocation event intended to meet U.S.-Japan bilateral goals such as reduced local impacts by dispersing the training to other areas and increased operational readiness. A Navy MH-60 Seahawk helicopter lands Dec. 9 at Charlie runway on Tinian’s North Field during Exercise Forager Fury II to execute a forward arming and refueling point training. The exercise encompasses fixed and rotary-wing flight operations allowing exploitation of several Marine aviation functions including assault support and fuel storage and distribution. FF II allows Marines and sailors to join forces to expand aviation capabilities.
