Master Gunnery Sergeant Jonathan E. Taylor is currently serving as the Senior Enlisted Advisor for Risk Management Directorate.
He is a native of Staunton, VA and graduated from Riverheads High School in 2001. He enlisted in the Marine Corps on September 24, 2003, and attended recruit training at MCRD Parris Island, SC. Upon completion of training at the School of Infantry East, Camp Geiger, NC, he was assigned the military occupational specialty 0311, Rifleman.
Master Gunnery Sergeant Taylor's operational assignments include 3d Bn, 6th Mar, with deployments to Djibouti (2003), Afghanistan (2004), Iraq (2005-2006), and two deployments to Marjah, Afghanistan (2010 and 2011-2012), and 1st Bn, 1st Mar, deploying with Marine Rotational Force - Darwin (2016).
Other assignments include serving at The Basic School (TBS) in Quantico, VA (2006-2008), Marine Security Guard Detachment Commander at Rabat, Morocco (2012-2013), Detachment Commander for the Marine Security Guard Security Augmentation Unit in Quantico, VA, with deployments to Ukraine, Poland, Bahrain, and Iraq (2014-2015), Combat Instructor and Operations Chief at the School of Infantry - East (2017-2020), Operations Chief, Naval Construction Group ONE in Port Hueneme, CA (2020-2023), Operations Chief and Sensor Chief, 2d Intelligence Battalion (2023-2026), and Senior Enlisted Advisor at Risk Management Directorate (2026-Present).
Master Gunnery Sergeant Taylor completed Squad Leaders Course, Infantry Unit Leaders Course, SNCO Career Course, Marine Security Guard Detachment Commander Course, Advanced Course, Ground Combat Element Operations Specialist Course, Marine Combat Instructor Course, Advanced Maneuver Warfare Course, First Sergeant/Master Sergeant Regional Seminar, Advanced Marine Air-Ground Task Force Information Operations Course, and the Senior Enlisted Joint PME. He is currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in business management.
His personal awards include the Purple Heart, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal 6th award, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with a Combat Distinguishing Device 2nd award, the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, and the Combat Action Ribbon 2nd award.
