Hagel to visit U.S. military bases

15 Jul 2013 | American Forces Press Service Headquarters Marine Corps

From July 15-17, Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel will travel to Fort Bragg, N.C.; Naval Air Station Jacksonville, Fla.; Joint Base Charleston, S.C.; and Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, N.C., according to a Defense Department news release.

Over the course of this three-day domestic trip, Hagel will interact with service members, families, Department of Defense civilian employees, contractors, and local civic leaders in a variety of venues.

Given the significant impact budget reductions are having on uniformed and civilian personnel, Hagel believes it is a critical time to visit DOD locations and hear directly from the men and women of the Department of Defense.
