NEW YORK -- Four New York City Marines spent their Independence Day representing those who serve at the Subway Series game at Shea Stadium in Queens, N.Y.
Marines from 6th Communications Battalion in Brooklyn, N.Y., kicked off pre-game ceremonies with a Color Guard as Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Laura Carey performed the National Anthem. Members of the U.S. Coast Guard and the Merchant Marine Academy also unfurled a giant flag in celebration of the fourth of July.
The game featured New York's Yankees and Mets competing for the Subway Series Title. The Mets won the game and earned the coveted title over the Yankees for the first time ever.
