Military Club honors Red Cross Chairman

5 Apr 2005 | Cpl. Lameen Witter Headquarters Marine Corps

Members of the Soldiers’, Sailors’, Marines’, and Airmen’s Club (SSMAC) held a cocktail reception at the club for the 2005 Military Ball Civilian Honoree, Bonnie McElveen-Hunter, Chairman of the American Red Cross, yesterday.

“I’m deeply honored to stand here before you this evening, representing the greatest humanitarian organization in the world, and to be with you in this club, the Soldiers’, Sailors’, Marines’, and Airmen’s Club; a place that has offered shelter and a special place for our military. When I look at our military, I believe that it’s only surpassed by the superiority to the commitment of our values, ideals, the real cost of freedom, and human dignity,” said McElveen-Hunter, to the response of roaring applause by surrounding guests.

The SSMAC will hold its 2005 Military Ball, which will honor the U.S. Army, at the Pierre Hotel on October 5th.
