MARINE CORPS HERITAGE FOUNDATION CALLS FOR DALY AWARD ENTRIES

The Marine Corps Heritage Foundation announces the 2001 competition for the Sergeant Major Dan Daly Award. The award was established in memory of the legendary recipient of two Medals of Honor and is sponsored by the Marine Corps Association's LEATHERNECK magazine. 

The award will be given for superior writing, pertinent to Marine Corps history. An enlisted writer or writers, for a Marine Corps station periodical, must have written the article during calendar year 2000.

Entries--either single articles or a series--will be judged both on quality of writing and depth of historical research.  Authors, editors, or commands are encouraged to submit tear sheets or other evidence of publication during calendar year 2000 to:

Deadline for submissions is 16 July 2001.  The winner will be presented a commemorative plaque and cash award of $1,000. The presentation will be done at the Heritage Foundation's annual awards banquet.  Time and location of the banquet will be announced.
