Marines

The authority to direct a Marine's discharge rests with their Commanding General.  Since this Headquarters is not part of the review process, we cannot foresee when action on a Marine's discharge will be completed or what the final disposition will be.  We can tell you that the Marine will be appropriately counseled, and their rights will be fully protected.  The Marine will be informed of the final decision at the earliest practicable date.

There are no provisions in law or regulations whereby a Marine may be discharged solely because they are dissatisfied or believe they cannot adjust to military service.  Their welfare is entrusted to concerned, responsible officers who genuinely want to help Marines succeed.  A constituent should be encouraged to seek the guidance of their commanding officer regarding any difficulties he/she is experiencing.  The Marine’s commanding officer will be able to evaluate and recommend appropriate remedies for their individual situation.
