MASTER CHIEF PETTY OFFICER ALFREDO A. MEDINA  

 

Master Chief Hospital Corpsman Alfredo A. Medina was born on January 28, 1985, in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He enlisted in the Navy in June 2003 and attended Hospital Corps “A” School in September 2003. HR Medina received orders to Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton, CA, and was assigned to the Labor & Delivery/Special Care Nursery Ward.

In December 2004, HN Medina attended Field Medical Service School in Camp Pendleton. In November 2005, HM3 Medina received orders to 1st MARDIV and was assigned to the “Darkhorse” 3rd Battalion 5th Marines. He was deployed in January 2006 to support Operation Iraqi Freedom in the Fallujah / Habbaniyah AO. In April 2007, HM3 Medina received orders to the 1st Marine Special Operations Battalion in Camp Pendleton, and was deployed as Team Corpsman to western Afghanistan with Charlie Co. Marine Special Operations Team (MSOT) 8133 in the summer of 2008. In January 2009, HM2 Medina was the Team Corpsman for Counter Narcotics Training in northern Luzon, Philippines.  

HM2 Medina was selected to attend Surface Independent Duty Corpsman School in the summer of 2010. Upon graduation, HM1 Medina received orders to the 3rd Marine Special Operations Battalion / Marine Raider Battalion in Camp Lejeune, NC. He deployed as Team IDC to the Southern Philippines in January 2012 with MSOT 8333. Upon return from deployment, he received orders to support MSOT 8321, where he deployed as Team IDC in November 2012 to support OEF-Afghanistan in Helmand Province. Upon return, he was promoted to Chief Petty Officer and served as Marine Special Operations Company Mike’s Leading Chief Petty Officer and MSOT 8332 Team IDC, which deployed to Northern Africa in November 2014. 

In June 2015, he received orders to the Chemical Biological Incident Response Force in Indian Head, MD, where he served as the Leading Chief Petty Officer and IDC for numerous National Special Security events in support of the JTF National Capital Region and JTF Civil Support. He was promoted to Senior Chief Petty Officer in June 2018 and transferred to the Navy Special Operations Medical Institute in Ft. Liberty, NC, where he served as the Chief Instructor and NCOIC for the Special Operations Combat Medic course at the Joint Special Operations Medical Training Command.  

In April 2021, Senior Chief received orders to serve as the Navy Senior Enlisted Leader and Senior Enlisted Medical Advisor for the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii. After his promotion to Master Chief Petty Officer, he was assigned to Headquarters Marine Corps in Arlington, VA, to serve as the Senior Enlisted Advisor for The Medical Officer of the Marine Corps. 

His personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with two gold stars, the Army Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with Combat Distinguish Device (V) and two gold stars, the Combat Action Ribbon with one gold star, and multiple campaign medals. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Health Sciences from the George Washington University and graduated from the CMC/COB Course and the Senior Enlisted Academy.
