Bravo Company Commander

Maj Tarr was commissioned on 26 May 2006 through the United States Naval Academy. He attended The Basic School and Infantry Officers Course before being assigned to 1st Battalion 9th Marines where he deployed in March of 2008 to Ramadi, Iraq. Maj Tarr then deployed again with the 24th MEU in January 2010.  During this time he participated in Humanitarian Relief Operations in Haiti and security missions in and around the horn of Africa.

Upon return from his 2nd deployment Major Tarr was re-deployed to Camp Fuji, Japan, and assumed the role as the Base Operations Officer in Oct 2010. During his deployment to Camp Fuji, Major Tarr participated in Humanitarian Relief Operations, called Operation TOMODACHI, following Japan’s Great East Tohoku Earthquake and subsequent tsunami and nuclear disaster.

Returning from Japan, Major Tarr was assigned to the Naval Academy as an Assistant Professor of Leadership. In May 2012 he was assigned to the LEAD Masters Program and subsequently graduated in May of 2013 with a Masters Degree in Leadership Development from the University of Maryland.  He took command of 2nd Company as their company officer in May of 2013 and relinquished command in May of 2015. From June of 2016 to July of 2016, he worked in the Naval Academy’s Admission Office, coordinating volunteer projects across the US to raise awareness of the Naval Academy through outreaching to at risk youths.

In Sept of 2016, Major Tarr transitioned off of Active Duty and directly affiliated with the Selected Marine Corps Reserves, where took command of Echo Company 2nd Battalion 25th Marines. During his 2 and half years of command, his company successfully completed 3 Annual Training exercises: ITX 4-17, Operation Seabreeze in Ukraine, and a company level summer mountain warfare package at Camp Ethan Allen in VT. IN March of 2019, he transitioned out of command to the IRR to focus on family.

Also in Sept of 2016, Major Tarr started his civilian career with Apple in their Retail division, working as a Manager at stores in Philadelphia, PA and now Fairfax, VA.

Major Tarr’s wife, Noelle, owns and operates her own business called Coconuts & Kettlebells, focused on empowering people to reach their full potential through holistic fitness, nutrition and health. They have (2) amazing children: Stella (3) and Maverick (1).

He is excited to finally to grow-up and get a real job soon. He is a sought after keynote and motivational speaker, executive and personal coach, for-profit and non-profit business advisor.  He has extensive experience in leader development by developing leaders all of levels, specializing in millennial and rising young leaders.
