Your Supervisor: Your First Year (Onboarding Phase 5)
You will quickly begin to feel—and your Supervisor will treat you—less like a new hire and more like a valued member of your time. Once all initial expectations have been established, it will be essential for you and him or her to work continually together to ensure success.

Professional Development

You and your Supervisor should constantly review your Individual Development Plan (IDP), as well as your work needs and performance, in consideration of your growth as a Civilian Marine. There are various resources available to aid in your continued development, and having an open dialogue about your needs is central to ensuring professional enrichment.


Having established clear expectations for performance, your Supervisor should engage you regularly regarding your work. He or she will discuss your successes and opportunities for growth, providing guidance or corrective action as necessary. Through this coaching process, your Supervisor will be able to refine the initial expectations established when you first arrived on board.
