Assistant Deputy Commandant for Programs, Programs and Resources
Brigadier General Daniel L. Shipley

Brigadier General Daniel Shipley graduated from the Virginia Military Institute and was commissioned in 1992. He was designated a Naval Aviator and completed training in the F/A-18 Hornet in 1996.

Brigadier General Shipley has served in several F/A-18 squadrons to include: VMFA(AW) 332 during Operation ALLIED FORCE while deployed to Hungary, VMFA 323 aboard USS CONSTELLATION(CV 64) during Operation IRAQI FREEDOM; the U.S. Navy Flight Demonstration Team (Blue Angels) and VMFA(AW) 225. He commanded VMFA 232 during Operation ENDURING FREEDOM 10.2 in 2010 while deployed to Kandahar, Afghanistan. He also commanded Marine Aircraft Group 12 (MAG 12) in Iwakuni, Japan.

His staff billets include the Tactical Air (TACAIR) Plans Officer in the Aviation Department, Headquarters Marine
Corps (HQMC), Aide-de-Camp for the Commanding General of Marine Corps Combat Development Command, Deputy Director for Program Analysis and Evaluation in the Programs and Resources Department, HQMC, and Director for Manpower Plans and Policy at Manpower and Reserve Affairs, HQMC.

His joint assignments include service in the Joint Staff Strategic Plans Directorate (J5), the Joint Strike Fighter Program Office, and as Deputy Director for Operations in the Joint Staff Operations Directorate (J3).

Brigadier General Shipley is a graduate of the Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course, the Marine Division Tactics Course, Marine Corps Command and Staff College, and the National War College. He holds a M.S. in National Security Strategy from National Defense University.

Brigadier General Shipley currently serves as the Assistant Deputy Commandant for Programs, Programs and Resources Department, HQMC.
