April 30, 2006 - Marines of Dam Security Unit (DSU), Bravo Company, 4th Assault Amphibian Battalion, attached to 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marines conduct a boat patrol on the Euphrates River near Haditha Dam, Al Anbar Province, Iraq in order to deny enemy activity on the river in support of Counter Insurgency (COIN) Operations. 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marines is deployed with Regimental Combat Team 7, I Marine Expeditionary Force (FWD) in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in the Al Anbar Province of Iraq (MNF-W) to develop the Iraqi Security Forces, facilitate the development of official rule of law through democratic government reforms, and continue the development of a market based economy centered on Iraqi Reconstruction. On 07 May 2006, Marines of 3D Battalion, 8th Marines participate in the sandbag program, which is strictly enforced and regulated by the food sevice specialists, in an effort to help aid the reconstruction and fortification of various observation sites in Ar Ramadi, Iraq. The high demand of sandbags is due to recent damages to posts, caused by enemy forces. 3/8 Marines are currently deployed with IMEF (FWD) in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in the Al Anbar province of Iraq (MNF-W) to develop the Iraqi Security Forces, facilitate the development of official rule of law through demographic government reforms, and continue the development of a market based economy centered on Iraqi reconstruction.
